Effective 4 September 2026 · Applies to Cal For Me for iPhone and iPad
The short version
- Your sessions, player names and scores are stored on your device. They are not sent to us.
- If you switch on iCloud sync, that data goes to your own iCloud account — not to a server we run. We do not run a server.
- Cal For Me is free and shows ads through Google AdMob. Google collects device and advertising data to serve and measure those ads.
- We do not collect analytics, we do not ask you to create an account, and we do not sell anything about you.
The sections below are the full detail. If anything here is unclear, email calforme151@gmail.com and ask.
Contents
1. Who we are
Cal For Me is an iPhone and iPad app that keeps score for card and board games and works out who owes what at the end. This policy explains what happens to information when you use it. In this policy, "we" and "us" mean the developer of Cal For Me, and "the app" means Cal For Me on iOS and iPadOS.
This policy covers the app only. It does not cover Apple's own services, the App Store, or any website you reach from a link or an advertisement inside the app.
2. What Cal For Me stores on your device
Everything you type into Cal For Me is written to storage inside the app on your device. That is:
- Sessions — the name you give a game night, when it started, how long it has run, and whether it is still in progress.
- Players — the names you type for the people at the table, and whether each one is paused.
- Rounds and scores — who won or lost each round, the points, and the time each round was recorded.
- Money settings — whether Money Mode is on, what one point is worth, and the currency you picked.
- App preferences — your appearance choice (light, dark, or follow system), whether the number pad opens automatically, and whether iCloud sync is on.
None of this is transmitted to us. We have no servers, no database, and no way to read it.
Player names are free text that you choose. They are usually first names or nicknames. Please do not type anything sensitive into them — the app treats them as ordinary text and shows them on the scoreboard, in stats, and in any PDF you export.
3. iCloud sync
iCloud sync is off by default. You can switch it on and off at any time in Settings inside the app.
When it is on, your session list is stored in your own iCloud account using Apple's iCloud key-value storage, so the same sessions appear on every device signed in to that Apple Account. The data travels between your devices through Apple's infrastructure. It does not pass through us, and we cannot access it.
Apple's handling of iCloud data is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. If you switch sync off, the app stops writing to iCloud and keeps working from the copy on your device.
When you delete a session on one device, the app records that the session was deleted so the deletion also reaches your other devices rather than the session reappearing. That record is kept for up to 30 days and holds only an identifier and a date — no player names or scores.
4. Advertising through Google AdMob
Cal For Me is free to download and use. It is paid for by advertising served through Google AdMob, a service provided by Google LLC and, for users in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, by Google Ireland Limited.
To show and measure ads, Google's advertising software running inside the app collects and processes information about your device. Depending on your region, your device settings and the permissions you have given, this can include:
- advertising identifiers, including Apple's Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA) where you have allowed tracking, and Google's own app-instance identifiers;
- your IP address, and an approximate location derived from it (typically at city or region level);
- device and software information such as device model, operating system version, language and region, screen size and network type;
- information about the ads themselves — which ads were requested, shown, viewed, tapped or dismissed, and how long they were on screen;
- information used to detect invalid traffic and fraud.
Google uses this information to deliver ads, to measure how they perform, to limit how often you see the same ad, to detect fraud, and — where personalised advertising applies to you — to select ads based on inferred interests. Google may share it with its advertising partners. Google acts as an independent controller of this data, not on our behalf.
We do not receive any of this data about you individually. We can see only aggregate, anonymous reporting in the AdMob dashboard, such as how many ad impressions the app served in total.
For the detail of how Google handles advertising data, see:
- How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services
- Google Privacy Policy
- About AdMob and user privacy
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, you will be shown a consent message before personalised advertising is used, presented through Google's consent management platform. You can reopen that message and change your choice from the Settings screen in the app. Where you decline, Google serves non-personalised or limited ads instead, which still require basic device and ad-delivery data to work.
5. Your advertising choices
- App Tracking Transparency. iOS asks whether Cal For Me may track you across other companies' apps and websites. If you say no, the IDFA is not made available and ads are not personalised using it. You can change this at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
- Limit ad tracking system-wide. Turning off Allow Apps to Request to Track declines tracking for every app at once.
- Personalised ads in the EEA, UK and Switzerland. Change your consent choice from the Settings screen in the app.
- Removing the data. Deleting the app removes the advertising SDK and its local storage from your device along with it.
Declining personalised ads does not remove ads from the app; it changes how they are selected.
6. What we do not collect
- We do not ask for an account, an email address, a password or a phone number.
- We do not run analytics, crash reporting, or any other tracking of our own inside the app.
- We do not request access to your contacts, photos, camera, microphone, calendar, health data, or precise location.
- We do not take payments in the app and do not handle card or bank details. Money Mode is a calculator that multiplies points by a rate you choose; no money moves through Cal For Me.
- We do not sell or share personal information for money, and we do not build advertising profiles ourselves.
7. Information Apple gives us
If you buy, download or review the app, Apple provides us with aggregate App Store statistics — download counts by country, app versions in use, crash reports where you have opted in to share them with developers, and public review text. This comes to us already aggregated or pseudonymised and does not identify you.
8. Children
Cal For Me is a general-audience app for keeping score at a table. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Because the app carries advertising, we recommend it be used under a parent's or guardian's supervision by younger players. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the app, contact us at calforme151@gmail.com and we will help you address it.
9. Your rights
Because your game data never leaves your device or your own iCloud account, you already hold and control it directly: you can view, correct, export and delete it inside the app at any time, with no request to us required.
If you are in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland
Under the GDPR and the UK GDPR you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict and object to processing of your personal data, and the right to data portability. For the advertising data described in section 4, the controller is Google, and those requests should be directed to Google using the links in that section. Google's legal bases are consent for personalised advertising and legitimate interests for ad delivery, measurement and fraud prevention. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
If you are in California
Under the CCPA as amended by the CPRA you have the right to know what personal information is collected, to delete it, to correct it, and to opt out of its sale or sharing for cross-context behavioural advertising. We do not sell personal information. Advertising through AdMob may constitute "sharing" for cross-context behavioural advertising under California law; you can opt out by declining tracking in the App Tracking Transparency prompt or in iOS Settings, as described in section 5. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.
Other regions
If your local law gives you similar rights over personal data, we will honour them. Write to us and say what you would like.
10. Keeping and deleting your data
We do not hold your data, so there is nothing for us to retain or delete on your behalf. Your copies are removed as follows:
- On the device — delete individual sessions in the app, or delete the app to remove all of it at once.
- In iCloud — with sync on, deleting a session removes it from your other devices too. To clear the app's iCloud data entirely, delete the sessions and then turn sync off, or remove the app's data in iOS Settings → your name → iCloud.
- Advertising data — held by Google under Google's own retention schedules. Use the Google links in section 4 to make a request about it.
11. Security
Your data sits inside the app's own sandboxed storage on your device, protected by iOS and by your device passcode, Face ID or Touch ID. Data synced through iCloud is encrypted in transit and at rest by Apple. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, but because we neither collect nor hold your information, there is no store of it on our side to be breached.
12. Changes to this policy
If we change how the app handles information — for example by adding a new service to it — we will update this page and change the effective date at the top. Significant changes will also be noted in the app's release notes on the App Store. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
13. Contact
Questions about this policy, or about your data, go to calforme151@gmail.com. We aim to reply within a few days.
